Popular Fairview Heights restaurant ready to reopen after moving to new location
Sushi fans, get your chopsticks ready because the wait is almost over.
Wasabi Sushi Bar opens at its new location Thursday, April 14, according to owner John Kim.
Since closing the Fairview Heights location nearly three months ago, Kim and his staff have been working hard to pack up for the move and to prepare the new restaurant.
Kim said they recently vacated the Fairview Heights site, leaving the space very clean (and as a result, the landlord very happy), and moved into the newly-built O’Fallon location at 1124 Merchants Way, Suite 220.
Customers are ready for them to open.
Kim said that people are already trying to stop in for lunch, assuming they’re open because he and the staff have been there every day preparing for the opening.
Wasabi Fairview Heights closed after service on Saturday, Jan. 15, after operating at 6530 N. Illinois St, #103, for nearly 10 years.
Kim said in January that the main reason for the move was to better serve the customers.
“Where would we be without our loyal customers?” Kim asked at the time.
It’s a question he regularly asks his team members.
Wasabi will open at 1124 Merchants Way, Suite 220 in O’Fallon at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 14. Hours will be 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday-Thursday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday-Saturday.
In addition to O’Fallon, Wasabi has a location in Edwardsville and five others in Missouri.
