The Marion County Coroner has released the name of a woman who died when an airplane crashed into a southern Illinois swimming pool Saturday.

Cheryl Monserat-LaGreca, 56, of Lacon, Illinois was killed on impact with the pool on Woods Lane in Centralia, which is near Centralia Municipal Airport, according to several media reports. Lacon is about 30 miles north of Peoria in Marshall County.

Fox 2 News and other media identified Monserat-LeGreca as a passenger of the downed Beech BE35. The pilot, Glen Rossi, of Peoria, was transferred to a local hospital for treatment, police said.

The Federal Aviation Administration said the National Transportation Safety Board will be taking over the investigation.

An investigator has been dispatched and a preliminary report will be released in two weeks, an NTSB spokesman told the News-Democrat in an email.

Another fatal crash happened July 2 near St. Jacob in Madison County.

A small, single-engine plane crashed into a field near St. Louis Metro-East Airport/Shafer Field. Robert L. Binger, 60, of Lake City, Florida, died in that crash.
