What is the best dish served in southwestern Illinois restaurants? Send us your picks

I often have food on the brain. (It’s probably why my clothes are a tad more snug than they used to be.)

But that’s what happens when your beat includes restaurants.

What’s new, what’s good, what’s reliable … These are things I think about when trying to decide where to go for dinner with the husband.

And it’s hard to decide because I don’t really have an absolute favorite food.

Mexican cuisine is always a go-to for me and the hubby. There are a few places we go to a lot: Mi Casa, Rio Grande MX CocinaAgavero in Collinsville has become a favorite. The veggie bowl (minus the cheese) is awesome!

And Asian food is a given for me, since I’m half Asian myself. We go to Li Chinese Restaurant in Swansea almost weekly and to Sake Sushi often enough that some of the staff remembers us and my usual beverage of choice (hot green tea).

Then, of course, there’s pizza. But I won’t open that can of anchovies.

After we last ate at The Quarter Restaurant, the husband had the shrimp and grits. He said it’s the best thing in Belleville. (Very high praise from a foodie like him.)

Which (finally) brings me to the point: What is your go-to entrée and where do you get it?

You know the one. It’s that meal that makes you happy Snoopy dance in your chair as you eat. (Or is that just me?)

Join in the fun and share the name of the dish and the restaurant (it doesn’t have to be a new place) that serves it in the form below.

Have more than one? Not a problem. Fill out the form for each dish.
