St. Clair County coroner releases ID of man killed in double-rollover crash
A 60-year-old Breese man died in a double-rollover crash on U.S. 50 near Rieder Road in between O’Fallon and Lebanon on Thursday, authorities said.
Keith E. Van Ness, of North 11th Street in Breese, was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to the Illinois State Police and St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr.
He was driving an eastbound vehicle that drifted into the westbound lane at 6:39 a.m. “for an unknown reason.” The vehicle was sideswiped by a westbound vehicle, according to a preliminary investigation by the Illinois State Police.
Both of the vehicles left the roadway and overturned.
The driver of the westbound vehicle was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The name of this motorist has not been released.
