Breaking news image

Shoppers in the metro-east still have a few days to save on goods remaining at the Bed Bath & Beyond store at 6611 N. Illinois St. in Fairview Heights.

An email sent by the New Jersey-based company on Thursday touted savings of up to 90% off of already-discounted merchandise remaining in all departments.

A phone call to the store revealed that the retail store will close at the end of business this Sunday.

A store associate stated that the hours for Friday, Saturday and Sunday are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. with the possibility of closing early any of those days, depending on staffing.

The Fairview Heights store opened in 1998.

Bed Bath & Beyond Inc. announced in August that around 150 of its stores were slated for closure.

In addition to Fairview Heights, stores in Carbondale, Schaumburg, Gurnee, Bourbonnais and Joliet were among those closing in Illinois.

On Thursday, the company warned investors that it may have to file for bankruptcy and stated it anticipated reporting losses of $385.5 million for the third quarter of 2022.
