Granite City mother ‘frantic with worry’ over missing 32-year-old son

The family of a 32-year-old Granite City man is frantic with worry because they have not seen him since Sunday.

Christine Simpson said her son, Joshua Amos, was last seen in a surveillance video at Scarlet Strip Club in Washington Park.

“He was leaving there at 5 a.m. We have not seen him since,” she said. “We are frantic with worry. This is not like him.”

Simpson said family and Washington Park police currently are doing a ground search. They are hopeful someone will call police with the tip that will lead to Amos’ whereabouts. In the meantime, she is praying that her son will be found safe.

She said Amos is bipolar and has been in rehab for chemical addiction.

“My husband died a couple of years ago and his birthday was recent. This might have triggered it,” Simpson said.

Simpson said her daughter talked to her brother Friday night on the phone. He does not currently have his phone with him.

“She used an app to track his phone. It was found at his home,” Simpson said. “His roommate said he hasn’t seen him since Saturday.”

Simpson described Amos as being very charming, fun, outgoing, talkative, good looking and athletically built.

It’s not like Amos to walk away from his family and friends without saying a word, his mother said.

The only issue the family aware of Simpson said, is “he was struggling with an addiction.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Washington Park Police Department at 618-874-0115.
