Warehouse outlet in Fairview Heights to close, but nearby Missouri stores to remain open
As Fairview Heights sees multiple businesses open near the intersection of North Illinois Street and Lincoln Highway – i.e., Jersey Mike’s, Fusion, and Play It Again Sports – there is one business that will close by the end of June.
Skechers Warehouse Outlet closes at the end of business on Saturday, June 24, according to Bethany Kilpatrick, the store’s assistant manager.
She said that since the store opened it has done well.
Skechers provides a wide selection of comfortable shoes, apparel and accessories for men, women and children of all ages.
News of the California-based company opening a Fairview Heights store came in May 2018.
“Business is awesome here,” said Kilpatrick, adding that it was a corporate decision to close what she referred to as a “temporary warehouse store.”
Temporary warehouse outlets like the Fairview Heights store carry overstock from the other stores and more of the clearance merchandise, she explained.
Kilpatrick mentioned that the company wanted to convert the location to a permanent outlet store, but necessary renovations and time constraints surrounding the lease made that unfeasible.
Jennifer Clay, a member of the press team for Skechers, replied to an email inquiry about the closing.
Clay wrote that the closing in Fairview Heights is “simply a case of a lease expiring” and added that they are looking for a new location.
Once closed, the store’s contents will be packed and moved. Kilpatrick said they will vacate the space by June 30.
Because merchandise is already available at reduced prices, no additional discounts will be available, said Kilpatrick.
However, the store is currently offering a buy one, get one 50% off of select styles.
Another Skechers Warehouse is located at 160 Gravois Bluffs Circle Drive in Fenton, Missouri, and a Skechers Factory Outlet store is located at 18521 Outlet Blvd. in Chesterfield, Missouri.
Skechers Warehouse Outlet in Fairview Heights is located at 10 Lincoln Highway.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. The store’s last day is Saturday, June 24.
