After sustaining storm damage that closed the store nearly a month ago, Casey’s in Smithton is getting back into the swing of things.

The store at 407 N. Main St. reopened Thursday morning.

According to store manager Heidi Wyman, the storm that swept through the area on June 30 damaged one of three air conditioning units.

A chain reaction from that unit knocked out the other two units, said Wyman.

However, the resulting smoke damage was the worst part, she said, acknowledging that it could’ve been a lot worse.

The closure was “tough on all of us,” said Wyman, who is also a Smithton resident.

Employees from the Smithton store were able to work at other locations while repairs were made. Wyman and her staff spent the last couple of weeks cleaning and restocking the store to prepare for Thursday’s reopening.

For now, Wyman said, the hours are 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily and will be for the next two to three weeks as more staff members are hired.
