Joann Fabrics to close 500 stores after bankruptcy. Which area locations are included?
Joann Inc. last month filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy for the second time in less than a year and will close approximately 500 of its more than 800 stores.
The Fairview Heights store at 10865 Lincoln Trail in Fairview Heights is not among those set to close, according to an initial store closing list included in court documents dated Feb. 12.
The company filed a motion Wednesday seeking court authority to start closing the 500 stores nationwide, according to the case information available at kroll.com.
“This was a very difficult decision to make, given the major impact we know it will have on our team members, our customers and all of the communities we serve,” a company spokesperson told CNN Wednesday.
Multiple posts on social media regarding the store that will close stated that liquidation sales will start Saturday.
While the Fairview Heights store will remain open for now, 26 of 33 Illinois stores and seven of 14 Missouri locations, including Carbondale and Ballwin, Missouri, are on the list of closing stores.
