Three killed, including a young boy, in metro-east head-on collision

Three people died as a result of a head-on collision in St. Clair County on U.S. 50 at Clinton County Line Road on Monday night.

Illinois State Police agents from Troop 8 were dispatched to the accident scene at approximately 8:49 p.m., an ISP news release stated.

Jacob Emmerich-Tomlin, 10, of Lebanon, and Blaise Nowak, 21, of the 1300 block of Linden Lane, Trenton, were both pronounced dead at the scene, said St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr. Both died from the effects of blunt-force trauma, he said.

A third person, whose identity has not yet been released, was pronounced dead later at an area hospital.

A Lincoln MKZ was going east on U.S. 50 and a Honda Pilot was going west when the head-on collision occurred, according to an Illinois State Police news release. The driver of the Lincoln was pronounced deceased at the scene while the driver of the Honda was taken to a hospital and later pronounced deceased. A passenger in the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene while another passenger in the Honda was taken to a hospital with injuries, state police said.

The condition of the injured passenger was not released.

Illinois State Police is continuing to investigate and was unable to provide additional information.
