Business Roundup: New discount store, restaurant chain is coming to Belleville
Ah, spring.
After the long winter months I always find it refreshing to see the activity that comes with warmer weather, like flowers blooming, tree leaves and blossoms making appearances, and business activity progressing throughout the community.
Subtle segue, I know, but many things are happening. Here’s a quick roundup of some local activity that may be of interest or, at least, might feed your curiosity:
Ollie’s Bargain Outlet, Belleville
It looks like Belleville is close to seeing the doors open at the new Ollie’s store in Carlyle Plaza.
The signage is on the building at 104 Carlyle Plaza Drive, and a “Now Hiring” sign is in the window of the overstock and closeout merchandise retail store.
Cliff Cross, economic development, planning and zoning director, said he hasn’t heard an official opening date but that we will likely see a late April or early May opening.
An inquiry sent to Ollie’s media contact hasn’t received a response yet, but I’m keeping an eye out for an opening date.
Wingstop, Belleville
On the west end of Belleville, a new Wingstop location also looks close to opening as utility work continues at 5870 Belleville Crossing St.
Cross suspects this new business will be ready in the next month or so.
Other area locations include 1118 Merchants Way, Suite 110, O’Fallon, and 1075 Collinsville Crossing Blvd., Collinsville.

Discount Tire, Belleville
People on Facebook and Nextdoor are asking what’s being built next to Club Car Wash at Belleville Crossing.
While some of the answers from other social media users were mildly entertaining, I confirmed with Cross that the development is a new Discount Tire store.
Planning for this one’s been in the works since 2022. City council voted to approve the site plan in September 2022, which entails the construction of an approximate 8,028-square-foot facility with five thru-access drives and 34 onsite parking spaces on a lot measuring approximately 60,961 square feet.
All About Eyes – on the move
The All About Eyes closed an office located at 5650 Belleville Crossing St. as of March 18.
Patients of Dr. Gennadiy Dameshek can be seen at the O’Fallon office, located at 1222 Central Park Drive. This is only temporary as the Belleville team prepares to move to a new office in Fairview Heights later this spring, according to the website.

AutoZone, Fairview Heights
Work is underway with the expansion of AutoZone Auto Parts, located at 918 Lincoln Highway.
The expansion includes the construction of a 11,578-square-foot structure, adding to the existing 6,400-square-foot store in order to “provide an increased offering and better serve the area,” according to a project narrative submitted with the permit application.
This is one of two automotive-related construction projects along Lincoln Highway in Fairview Heights. The former Long John Silver’s was recently demolished to make way for a new Plaza Tire Service facility.
