You can expect to pay more for eggs this year compared to last year. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Consumer Price Index reports prices for meats, poultry, fish and eggs are up 7.9% from March 2024 to March 2025. Bird flu has contributed to rising poultry and egg costs.

While eggs are more expensive, some metro-east stores have seen a little price relief for the popular item recently. You can get a dozen for $4.97 at one Belleville store, as of April 9.

If you’re looking for a fun family activity to celebrate the holiday, the Belleville area has several Easter egg hunts on the calendar this year.
