Caseyville restaurant reopens after vehicle crash damages building
A Hardee’s restaurant that closed last week after a truck crashed into the building is back open for business.
The Caseyville restaurant at 8850 Petroff Drive sustained structural damage after the owner of a 2010 Ford F-150 pickup truck fell asleep while in the parking lot of the fast food restaurant.
No charges have been filed, according to the Caseyville Police Department and St. Clair County Circuit Court records.
The truck’s owner, a 43-year-old Alton woman, told police that she pulled over to sleep and “when I woke up, I was in the building,” according to an incident report.
One witness, a restaurant employee, told investigators the driver was parked in the lot for 10 minutes, but she only heard the crash and didn’t see what happened. When she turned around, the driver was “out of the vehicle and said her foot slipped,” the incident report said.
Officer Joseph Howell conducted field sobriety tests in the parking lot and determined the driver was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Details of the damage to the restaurant were not available.
The restaurant’s district manager, Shawn Daly, declined to comment. A message left for Todd Pahl, president of Capstone Restaurant Group, which owns the Hardee’s location, was not immediately returned.
Hardee’s is operating at regular hours for drive-thru and dine-in service. For more information about the location, call 618-398-0704 or visit hardees.com.
