Police investigate body found on metro-east railroad tracks
A body was found on the railroad tracks at 19th and State streets in East St. Louis early Monday, police said.
The person has not been identified and investigators are trying to find out how the body got on tracks.
Authorities have not released the cause of death for the individual or the person’s gender.
In a news release, Illinois State Police said approximately 1:16 a.m. Monday, East St. Louis police requested the Illinois State Police Public Safety Enforcement Group to “investigate a death which occurred in the 1900 block of State Street.”
“The investigation is active and ongoing and there is no additional information available,” the release said.
