Fund set up to help family of Collinsville woman killed in I-64 crash
A Collinsville woman who died in an Interstate 64 crash is being remembered for her “gentle heart.”
Courtney Ann Branon, 35, died Nov. 18 in a four-vehicle crash in O’Fallon, according to information from Illinois State Police and St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr.
Branon was driving a Ford Bronco in the eastbound lanes of I-64 at mile marker 14 near the U.S. 50 exit, where the crash occurred. In addition to the Bronco, there were two tractor-trailers and a utility work truck involved in the crash, state police said.
“Her love for her family, her unwavering dedication and her gentle heart leaves a lasting legacy of warmth and grace,” Branon’s obituary states.
Branon helped people with kidney ailments and her “warm presence, genuine kindness and radiant spirit touched countless lives,” according to the obituary posted by the Herr Funeral Home in Collinsville.
A celebration of life for Branon was held Sunday at the Collinsville American Legion.
Branon is survived by a son and daughter. A GoFundMe account has been established to assist her children. “Donate to the Branon Children in Their Time of Need” is the title of the GoFundMe page.
