Fairview Heights store set to close now will remain open. Here’s what we know
Since reporting that a Fairview Heights home décor retailer would close, there’s been a change of plans.
Kirkland’s Home, located at 320 St. Clair Square, will remain open.
Christine Poehling, marketing director for St. Clair Square owner CBL Properties, confirmed that the store—originally slated to close Jan. 26—will remain open; however, she does not have further details at this time.
The tenant has a lease that will continue, said Dallas Alley, director of land use and economic development. While the business will remain, Alley said he does not know at this time what the store will be called. He said the department does not currently have a permit application for the installation of a new sign.
Kirkland’s employees would not comment when asked about the store’s status. Closing sale signs that were previously on display have been removed.
Multiple inquiries to the company’s media team have not yet received a response.
Kirkland’s Home announced plans to rebrand in June 2025, changing its corporate name from Kirkland’s Inc. to The Brand House Collective Inc. This announcement came after Kirkland’s formed a partnership with Beyond Inc. This announcement came after Kirkland’s formed a partnership with Beyond Inc., owner of Bed Bath & Beyond, in October 2024.
In November 2025, The Brand House Collective formally announced a merger with Bed Bath & Beyond, in which the latter would acquire The Brand House Collective for approximately $26.8 million.
“This acquisition is a big step in building a profitable, growth oriented Everything Home company. The power of this deal comes from a more efficient and productive engagement with the consumer, while extracting over $20 million in duplicate costs,” Marcus Lemonis, Executive Chairman of Bed Bath & Beyond, stated in a Nov. 24 press release.
“The most valuable asset of this transaction is the talent and leadership that comes with it, giving our historical marketplace business a stronger product and consumer experience focus,” he said.
By that time, multiple Kirkland’s stores in the Nashville, Tennessee, area had transitioned to Bed Bath & Beyond Home stores.
Kirkland’s Home in Fairview Heights opened at its current location in October 2013. It was previously located inside St. Clair Square, where it operated from fall 1994 to late January 2005.
