A 24-year-old Belleville woman was identified Tuesday as the pedestrian who was fatally struck while helping a stranded motorist early Friday on Interstate 70 in St. Louis.

Raven McCline was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a news release from the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.

McCline had stopped to assist a driver who had lost control of his Ford Explorer when it was raining shortly before 1 a.m. on eastbound I-70 at Union Boulevard, police said.

“The Ford was disabled in the roadway due to damage to the vehicle,” the news release states.

Shortly after McCline stopped to assist the driver of the Ford Explorer, a Chevrolet Silverado struck McCline and the Ford, police said. A 65-year-old man driving the Silverado suffered minor injuries.

The police department’s accident reconstruction unit is investigating McCline’s death.
