Missing Belleville man has dementia and may be confused, niece says

The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department is asking the public for help locating a 64-year-old Belleville man who was last seen on May 21.

Douglas “Scott” Litsey was reported missing from his home in the Signal Hill neighborhood in west Belleville Sunday, but he was last seen on surveillance camera last Thursday, according to a release from the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department.

Litsey’s niece, Fae Litsey, said her uncle has asthma and may or may not have his inhaler with him. He left his wallet and phone at their home, she said.

Scott Litsey also has dementia and has not had access to his medications since he’s been missing, she said.

“He has never become violent. He is very likely to be evasive and try to hide if he’s frightened,” Fae Litsey said. “He also might not answer to his name if he’s confused.”

Litsey is described as a white male, 64, and about 5-feet, 4-inches tall with a gray beard.

Anyone who has information about Litsey’s whereabouts or believes they have seen him is asked to contact the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department at 618-825-2051 and reference case #26-04907.
