Expect delays: I-55 north to one lane for bridge work in St. Clair County
Northbound Interstate 55 will be reduced to one lane in part of St. Clair County for bridge maintenance next week, the Illinois Department of Transportation said.
The lane reduction will be in place between the Interstate 55/Interstate 64 split and Exchange Avenue from Tuesday, July 7, through Thursday, July 9, weather permitting. Work is scheduled from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day.
Drivers should expect significant delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes. Motorists are urged to slow down, watch for changing conditions, obey work-zone signs and avoid using mobile devices while traveling through the area.
