A 36-year-old O’Fallon man faces two counts each of criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse after he allegedly engaged in sexual acts with a female juvenile.
James P. Schoppen allegedly engaged in the acts with a 14-year-old girl between March 1 and July 1, according to St. Clair County court records. Charging documents state Schoppen “held a position of trust, authority or supervision with the female minor.” The records don’t state what the exact position was.
O’Fallon Police Lt. James Cavins would not comment further on the case but said additional information would be released later Monday.
