IDOT to close I-64 lane in East St. Louis until spring

The Illinois Department of Transportation has closed one westbound lane of I-64 between Third Street and Tudor Avenue in East St. Louis.

The right lane will be closed until spring of 2016 to complete the new ramp work connecting eastbound Martin Luther King Bridge traffic to westbound I-55/64, IDOT said.

The MLK itself is closed as crews carry out $15.9 million worth of repairs on the bridge.

The announcement comes as IDOT crews prepare for another major resurfacing project on I-64 between Illinois 157 and Green Mount Road. That work is expected to begin Aug. 31.
