East St. Louis Police investigate shooting death Sunday afternoon

A late afternoon shooting Sunday left one person dead at the corner of 15th Street and Exchange Avenue.

As of 4:30 p.m. Sunday, the covered body of the victim, whose gender and age were undisclosed, still lay in the street. Two East St. Louis police vehicles blocked the street. Also on the scene was an investigator from the St. Clair County coroner’s office. At least a dozen shell casings were on the street near the victim’s body.
