Woman killed in Granite City house fire
A woman was killed in a fire that burned a home on Courtney Boulevard in Granite City Monday.
Madison County Coroner Stephen Nonn confirmed the death Monday afternoon, and said additional information about the victim and the manner of her death would be released following an autopsy that was scheduled for 3 p.m.
The fire burned a one-story brick home on Courtney Boulevard.
Long Lake Volunteer Fire Department Chief Terry Kreher was not available for comment Monday afternoon.
Monday’s fatal fire was the second in three days.
A man found badly burned in a condemned home at 602 Abend St. in Bellleville died as a result of a fire caused by “some act of the person,” Belleville Fire Chief Tom Pour said this weekend.
That man has not been identified.
