According to police reports, the crash happened at just before 5 p.m. when the rider, who wasn’t wearing a helmet was struck by a car driven by a 19-year-old woman.

▪ Occupants of a four-unit apartment building in Dupo escaped with their lives Wednesday during an intense fire. But the structure seems to be a total loss.

The fire started about 11:30 in the two-story building in the 400 block of Lindeman Avenue. It seemed at about noon that the fire was under control. But at about 12:15, dark smoke started to suddenly pour out of the eves and an emergency call for firefighters to evacuate the building was sounded.

Flames soon burned through the roof as residents and neighbors watched helplessly.
