Don’t Miss This: Area startup building websites to order food online
Don’t miss these top stories Monday on BND.com:
▪ Ordello, a startup with an office on campus at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, is building websites for independent restaurants that allow customers to order online.
Soon, the new websites of local joints that use Ordello will go live, including Wang Gang and Nori Sushi in Edwardsville and the La Casa Mexicana restaurants in Edwardsville and O’Fallon.
The website for Robata, a restaurant in Maplewood, Mo., is already operating.
▪ Police say a 78-year-old Caseyville man was beaten with his own cane, by his grandson, during an argument over who ate the last of the leftover pizza.
St. Clair County prosecutors on Friday charged Charles J. Trione, 27, with aggravated battery and domestic battery.
The 78-year-old had head injuries which were not life-threatening.
▪ As an animal-welfare group calls for changes at the St. Clair County Animal Services Department, the department has gotten mixed reviews from area animal groups.
Animal Services has been criticized by a group called the St. Clair County Animal Welfare Advocates, a group that has called for the Animal Services Department to become low-kill, and for a new person to run the department to replace Animal Services Director Jim Jacquot.
The group has asked for animals to be vaccinated for parvovirus as soon as they are taken into Animal Services and for changes in cleaning procedures.
