Top BND videos: Red Bud woman sentenced in connection to fatal crash

▪ The families of two women killed in a crash in Monroe County in 2015 said they were not satisfied with the six-year prison term handed down to the woman guilty of causing the wreck.
Crystal Steinheimer, now 21, of Red Bud, was sentenced in Monroe County court Thursday in connection to the crash. She was charged in the case in May 2015 and pleaded guilty last month to aggravated driving under the influence.
▪ Storm sirens sounded in Belleville as strong winds sent trees and utility poles tumbling throughout the metro-east, keeping area police and firefighters busy.
Wednesday’s storm was blamed in the death of a Belleville resident the St. Clair County Coroner’s office identified as Jeremy Birch.
▪ Police were going to an apartment on Pheasantwood Drive in Belleville the night of June 23 at about 10 p.m. to respond to a complaint of a man with a gun. The incident ended when Angelo Brown brandished the gun at police and they shot and killed him.
Belleville police have released in-dash video and radio communications audio from that night. The tapes were released under an Illinois Freedom of Information Act request by the BND. The video does not show the shooting, but the audio provides a timeline of events.
▪ A 41-year-old East St. Louis man was killed early Monday by police after he was seen running around the neighborhood naked shooting at bystanders and cars, and then pointing a gun at two officers.

▪ Lauren Thoma said she was a little nervous when Freeburg High Superintendent Andrew Lehman had to take on softball coaching duties, but she discovered a guy with a dry sense of humor who could unleash a big belly laugh.
Lehman died Monday at age 46.
