Teen bicyclist still in critical condition after Illinois 15 crash

Belleville police said Wednesday a 15-year-old was still in critical condition after he was hit by a pickup while riding a bicycle on Illinois 15 last week.

Capt. John Moody said the teenager was in critical but stable condition at a St. Louis hospital when officers last checked on Monday. Moody said the Aug. 10 crash was still under investigation by the Belleville Police Traffic Unit. Police did not release the teen’s name.

Police and firefighters responded to the scene before 9 p.m. Aug. 10 at Illinois 15 near Turkey Hill Lane.

The driver of the pickup, a 2012 Dodge Ram, was not injured.

Police last week said the bicyclist was crossing lanes of traffic on Illinois 15 when the crash occurred.
