Visitation set for Belleville teen killed in Missouri crash

A visitation has been set for the Belleville West High School senior who died in a crossover crash on Interstate 70 in St. Charles, Missouri.

Dalton Lawrence Vonderheide, 17, of Belleville died in the crash on Monday after his 1993 Dodge Stealth crossed the I-70 median and collided with an oncoming Mack truck, authorities said.

The visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Sunday at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home at 120 N. Illinois St. in Belleville, according to Vonderheide’s obituary.

A private family funeral service will be held and burial will be at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Belleville.

“He loved playing the drums and was a proud member of the Belleville West Marching Maroons percussion section,” his obituary states. “Dalton was a bright soul and put a bright light in everyone he came across.”

A GoFundMe page has been set up to assist Vonderheide’s family in paying funeral costs.
