Highland cheerleading program enjoys banner weekend at regional competition
It was a great weekend for the Highland Bulldogs cheerleading program.
The Highland Cheerleading Regional took place Saturday, Dec. 11, at the Highland High School gym. Overall, 24 teams participated in the regional from the junior high to high school level.
All teams were competing and trying to qualify for the ICCA state cheerleading championship, which will be Saturday, Jan. 8, and Sunday, Jan. 9, in Springfield.
The Highland Middle School cheerleaders gave an amazing performance at the regional and qualified for the ICCA state championships in the medium junior high division along with earning first place. This was the team’s first competition and they were thrilled with their results.
The Highland varsity cheerleaders continued their winning streak by taking first place in the varsity coed division. This team, coached by Angie Fears and Tess Chlibec, gave an outstanding performance that had the crowd up and on their feet cheering along.
They next will compete Jan. 8 at the ICCA state championship.
