Highland varsity cheerleaders take 1st place at sectional competition in Edwardsville

The Highland varsity cheerleaders team definitely had something to prove Saturday, Jan. 29, as they rocked the IHSA Sectional in Edwardsville.

The team solidly took first place in the COED division competing against nine other teams. While winning the sectional is an honor in itself, this also qualified the team for the IHSA Cheer State Finals in Bloomington.

The cheer competition season will continue for one more week as the team prepares to compete Friday, Feb. 4 in the first round of the state finals. Thanks to all of the faithful Bulldog fans who continually show up to root the cheer team on to victory.
