Shiloh to get BJC medical office building and new Three Springs Park trail
The Village Board of Trustees made the final vote on August 1 to bring the $22 million BJC Medical Office Building to the Memorial Hospital East campus in Shiloh during its Regular Board meeting held on the first of every month. Other items reviewed previously were also approved.
“They plan to move dirt in September,” John Marquart, village administrator, said.
Trustees and Mayor Jim Vernier all expressed enthusiasm for the new office building, as well as the partnership with BJC.
“We are all very excited for this partnership, and all the residents we’ve heard input from have nothing but positive opinions about it,” Vernier said.
The building will built next to the recently opened Memorial East Hospital in Shiloh. There is a long-term plan to have a second medical office building as the need presents itself with time, BJC Healthcare Senior Project Manager Shawn Gillam confirmed.
“We usually have them fill the current building (in this case the planned medical office building one) is at least at 50 percent occupancy before making hard plans on additional structures — it’s all dependent on whether there is a need. So it could be next year, two years or longer before another will be needed,” Gillam said.
The Planning and Zoning Commission reviewed the PUD and variances during its July 11 meeting, following a five-minute public hearing.
No residents addressed the board during the public comment or question period.
The commission and the board both voted unanimously to move the project forward.
Memorial East Hospital opened its doors in April of this year.
