Man charged in recent Shiloh, Belleville bank robberies

A man has been charged with stealing more than $3,000 from two banks in Shiloh and Belleville.

Jahvaris L. Reese, 31, is accused of robbing a Shiloh bank on Aug. 6 and a Belleville bank on Aug. 15.

According to court documents, Reese confessed to the robberies Wednesday after being arrested by Belleville Police.

Police say Reese robbed Regions Bank in Belleville on Wednesday and fled in a white Buick. He was arrested after a 10-minute police chase.

While at Belleville Police Department, Reese confessed to robbing Regions Bank and Commerce Bank, according to court records. Police said they found money stuffed in Reese’s waistband, and his clothing matched the descriptions from both robberies.

At the time of his arrest, Reese was on parole, according to court records.

Reese told police that he used the money from Commerce Bank to pay bills and that none of the money was left, according to court records. In total, $3,092 was stolen from Commerce and Regions banks.

Police said Reese also attempted to rob PNC Bank in Belleville on Aug. 6, but he fled before receiving any money.
