Coroner identifies woman found dead in front yard of East St. Louis home

The St. Clair County Coroner and Illinois State Police on Friday identified the woman whose body was found in the front yard of an East St. Louis residence.

Deborah White, 53, of the 3600 block of Virginia Avenue in St. Louis, was identified with the use of forensics, St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr. said.

Illinois State Police Master Sgt. Jerri Hochmuth, the lead investigator on the case, said police are looking for anyone who may have known White.

“Anyone who may have known Deborah is asked to call Illinois State Police,” Hochmuth said.

East St. Louis police found White’s body in the front yard of a residence in the 800 block of Trendley Avenue early Tuesday about 1:09 a.m., said Police Sgt. Cantrell Patterson.

“Upon arrival, officers found a black female laying on the ground and not moving,” Patterson said.

The suspected murder is being jointly investigated by East St. Louis Police and Illinois State Police. It would be the 32nd homicide in East St. Louis this year.

Anyone with information is urged to call East St. Louis Police at 618-482-6700, Illinois State Police at 618-346-3990 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866 -TIPS, an anonymous tip line. If the tip helps police make a felony arrest, the tipster is offered a reward of up to $1,000. In homicide cases, the award increases to $5,000 if the tip can be used to make a felony arrest.
