Liquor store near Cahokia robbed at gunpoint by two men in ‘Scream’ masks
Two men wearing “Scream” masks robbed a liquor store near Cahokia at gunpoint Wednesday night, according to the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department.
A shot was fired when they entered the County Line Quick Shop liquor store on Camp Jackson Road, just outside the city limits of Cahokia in unincorporated St. Clair County. No one was struck or injured by the gunfire, the sheriff’s department stated in a news release.
Deputies responded to the store around 10 p.m. The 62-year-old store owner and a 22-year-old employee told the deputies that the suspects had climbed over the counter, held them at gun point on the floor and removed the money from the register and office. The sheriff’s department did not indicate how much money was taken.
There were no other people inside the store at the time, the department stated.
The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department was seeking help from the public Friday to identify the armed robbery suspects, who were wearing dark clothing and masks from the 1996 slasher film “Scream.” No other details about the suspects were released.
Anyone with information about the armed robbery is asked to contact the department at 618-825-5204.
