Alton homicide victim identified, police offering reward for information

The victim of a homicide being investigated in Alton has been identified as a 69-year-old man who lived in the home where his body was found.

The Madison County Coroner’s Office identified the man as Larry F. Singleton, who was found dead in the residence at 1129 Highland Ave. early Monday after police were called there for a welfare check.

The Alton Police Department is continuing to investigate Singleton’s death and has offered a reward of $3,000 for information that could lead to the arrest. The department is being assisted in the investigation by the coroner’s office and the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office, all of which are following up on leads regarding the homicide.

On Monday, Alton Police Chief Jason Simmons said the department was working with current and former members of the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis to investigate Singleton’s death, which was the second homicide in Madison County in two days. Prominent attorney and businessman Randy Gori was found dead in his home on Sunday.

Anyone with information regarding the case can contact the police department at 618-463-3505, an anonymous tipline at 618-465-5948 or send messages to the department’s Facebook and Twitter accounts. Police emphasized that anyone who contacts them can remain anonymous.
