One person charged in connection with shooting in unincorporated Belleville

A Belleville man faces one charge in St. Clair County Court following a shooting in the Ogles neighborhood of unincorporated Belleville.

Marsean D. Hill, 25, was charged with one count of aggravated battery with a firearm, St. Clair County Sheriff’s Capt. Bruce Fleshren said in a release Thursday.

At 11:04 a.m. on Tuesday, the sheriff’s department and Belleville Police Department responded to a home at 14 Briarwood Drive for a report of a shooting.

There, police found a 27-year-old man with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the shoulder. According to Fleshren, the victim was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and released.

Police took Hill into custody at the scene.

According to Fleshren, the incident was a result of a domestic dispute between the current boyfriend and a former boyfriend of a woman they both dated.

Hill is being held at the St. Clair County Jail with a bond of $75,000.
