Four questioned in shooting death of woman in unincorporated Belleville
A- 20 year-old woman was found shot at a home Monday afternoon in the 2500 block of Lucy Drive near Belleville.
Her identity has not yet been released, pending the notification of family.
The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department received the call at about 3 p.m., said St. Clair County Sheriff’s Capt. Bruce Fleshren. When they arrived, deputies found the woman with a single bullet wound.
“The female did not survive and was pronounced dead at 3:30 p.m. by the St. Clair County Coroner’s office,” Fleshren said.
Fleshren said investigators are working with the four others who were at the house where the shooting took place. It’s not clear if the woman was a resident or if the four others are suspects.
“At this time we are working to determine what events led up to the victim being shot. There were four other persons in the residence at time and they are cooperating.”
Police are asking anyone with information on the incident to call the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department at 618-825-5204.
