East St. Louis man charged with sexual abuse of a minor

A 45-year-old East St. Louis man was charged on multiple counts in connection with his alleged abuse of a girl with predatory criminal sexual assault for the alleged abuse of a child.

Derrick L. Adams, 1800 block of Gary Ave., was charged by the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s office Monday with a count each of predatory criminal sexual assault and indecent solicitation of a child. He is being held at the St. Clair County Jail on $250,000 bond, said East St. Louis Police Sgt. Cantrell Patterson.

According to charging documents, the abuse occurred between March 1 and May 1 and included video taping lewd acts with the girl, who is less than 13 years old.

Adam also was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm.
