Illinois trooper charged with possession, intent to deliver illegal mushrooms
A state police trooper was arrested Friday and accused of possessing and manufacturing illegal mushrooms.
Illinois State Police announced Saturday that District 11 Trooper Nolan Morgan, 40, of Greenville, was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and manufacture of a controlled substance, both Class X felony charges.
According to police, ISP investigators began looking into Morgan after receiving internal information that he allegedly was involved in drug activity at his residence. Police said after interviewing multiple witnesses and searching Morgan’s residence, approximately 259 grams of psilocybin mushrooms packaged for delivery were discovered.
Morgan was arrested Friday, July 3, and charged. His bond has been set at $150,000 and he is being held at Bond County Jail.
Morgan has been a District 11 patrol trooper since 2018. Police said he has been relieved of his police duties and the investigation into his activity is ongoing.
