Major Case Squad activated to investigate Belleville murder

The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis has been activated to investigate an early-morning homicide on the east end of Belleville.

St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department received a call to Eastland Drive at about 6:46 a.m. and deputies found the man on the ground outside a house. The Major Case Squad was called to assist the investigaiton by noon.

The victim is a 31-year-old Black male, according to Brian Koberna, deputy commander of the Major Case Squad and a lieutenant with the Madison County Sheriff. The man’s identity has not been released pending the notification of family.
