15-year-old hit in the mouth with gunfire while with other teens at Cahokia home

A 15-year old was shot in the mouth inside of a Cahokia residence in the 1100 lock of St. Bartholomew Monday afternoon.

Cahokia Police Capt. Dennis Plew said police have not been able to talk to the wounded juvenile, who is in critical condition at an area hospital. The victim is not being identified because of his age.

The boy, who police say resides in Centreville, was inside the home with other juveniles when he was shot. It is unclear if one of the teenagers pulled the trigger or if the shot came from outside the building, Plew said.

No weapon has been recovered.

“We were called to the 1100 block of St. Bartholomew at 12:27 p.m. in reference to a shooting,” Plew said. “At the scene, we learned that several juveniles were inside of the home when one of the juveniles was shot in the mouth. .... We have not spoken to the victim.

“We have spoken to several juveniles who were there and we are still investigating.”
