Suspects at large after shootout at Collinsville Waffle House, police say
Several cars were damaged and an individual may have been hurt during a shootout at a Collinsville Waffle House Saturday afternoon, according to police.
Collinsville police responded to the restaurant, located 505 N. Bluff Road, after receiving reports of gunfire Saturday. Police said a preliminary investigation revealed several individuals who were riding in separate cars started shooting at one another in the parking lot shared by the Waffle House and Saint Louis Bread Company.
Several vehicles were struck, and police said they believe at least one person was injured in the exchange but has not come forward to be identified as a victim.
In a statement, Collinsville Lt. Gary Scaggs said after interviewing witnesses and reviewing video evidence, the department believes the suspects are from out of the immediate area and were familiar with each other.
The investigation is ongoing, and the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Unit is assisting with the investigation.
