Man tells East St. Louis Police woman he met on dating site stole his car

A Jerseyville man told police that his first date with a woman he met on a dating website ended when she stole his car as another man held a gun on him.

According to East St. Louis Police Sgt. Cantrell Patterson, the man said he went to a residence in the 500 block of North 86th Street, where he was supposed to meet the 20-year-old woman he had connected with on the website Tagged.

When he arrived, another man pointed a gun at him and ordered him to get out of his car and hand over his wallet, he told police. His wallet contained the man’s bank card, identification and other items with personal information on it, Patterson said.

The woman, meanwhile, then fled in his black 2016 Kia Soul.

“The victim also said the unknown male struck him in his mouth,” Patterson said.

The man called East St. Louis Police a short time later at 12:57 a.m.

The armed male suspect is described as being Black with a dark complexion about 5-foot-10 with a slim build and, between the ages of 18 and 20.
