St. Louis police seek information on three shootings, one involving an infant

St. Louis police are investigating three shootings on Saturday that left five people injured and two dead, according to reports by local TV stations.

The injuries included a baby boy who was grazed by a bullet while sitting in a car.

FOX Channel 2 reported that a man in his 40s was shot and killed about 7:30 a.m. Saturday at North Kingshighway and Margaretta Avenue in the Penrose neighborhood of north St. Louis; and a woman was shot in the head and killed just before 3 p.m. Saturday a few blocks away, along Lexington Avenue.

KMOV Channel 4 and KSDK Channel 5 reported that an infant and four adults were injured during a shooting just after 6 p.m. Saturday in the Lewis Place neighborhood of St. Louis.

A 32-year-old man, 32-year-old woman and 8-month-old boy reportedly were sitting in a parked car in the 4600 block of Vernon when three men wearing surgical masks began firing shots at them from a dark-colored SUV.

“The baby suffered a graze wound to his head while the 32-year-old woman sustained superficial wounds to her head, face and stomach,” according to a story on the KMOV website. “Detectives said the man, who was shot in the back, drove to a local hospital to get help.

“Two men ... standing outside when the shooting happened were also struck by the gunfire. A 26-year-old man was shot and taken to the hospital by a private car.”

St. Louis already has surpassed its 194 homicides in all of 2019 and 186 homicides in 2018, FOX 2 reported.
