Officials release ID of man fatally shot in East St. Louis

The St. Louis Medical Examiner’s Office has released the name of a man fatally gunned down at 10th Street and Broadway in East St. Louis last month.

Michael D. Triplet, 47, has been identified as the victim, according to Tara Rick, a spokeswoman with St. Louis Medical Examiner’s Office.

This office handled the case since Triplet died at St. Louis University Hospital after the shooting on Sept. 21. He was pronounced dead at 11:55 p.m. that night.

The East St. Louis Police Department has said Triplet was walking in the 1000 block of East Broadway when he was shot just after 11 p.m. on Sept. 21.

No arrests have been made in the homicide.

Illinois State Police on Wednesday released a surveillance video in an effort to get the public’s assistance in finding a car used by suspects in Triplet’s death.

The car is a red, four-door sedan with either a light gray or white front, driver’s side quarter panel.

Anyone with information about this homicide is asked to contact the Illinois State Police Public Safety Enforcement Group at 618-346-3555 or CrimeStoppers at 866-371-8477.
