St. Clair County coroner identifies woman who was found shot to death in East St. Louis

A woman who died Saturday night after a shooting has been identified as Sherry R. Lawson, 33, of East St. Louis, according to St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr.

The woman had been unidentified until now.

East St. Louis police officers found Lawson at 505 N. 32nd St. She was taken to Touchette Regional Hospital in Cahokia Heights where she was pronounced dead of gunshot wounds at 10:36 p.m., Dye said.

No one has been arrested in slaying.

Lawson was one of three people shot to death in East St. Louis over the weekend. A man and woman also were found shot to death in a car earlier Saturday.

Police have released few details in the homicides, which they said continued to be under investigation.
