Belleville man charged with pizza parlor robbery

Belleville police arrested a man in connection with the armed robbery of the Domino’s on West Main Street earlier this week.

Sterling Gould, 37, of 924 Peony Dr. in Belleville, was charged Thursday with armed robbery and felon in possession of a weapon.

Police identified a vehicle associated with the robbery and that led them to Gould, according to Belleville Detective Karl Kraft.

“We are continuing to look at connections to the Imo’s robbery earlier this month,” Kraft said.

Three men walked into the Domino’s at 4000 W. Main Street in Belleville about 9 a.m. on Sunday. The three men were wearing black hoodies with white masks covering their faces, police said. One announced a robbery and displayed a handgun. The three got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

On July 7, two men dressed in hoodies walked into the Imo’s restaurant at 201 S. Belt West in Belleville about 10:15 p.m., demanded money and displayed a handgun.

Other suspects are being sought in connection with the pizza parlor robberies, Kraft said.

Gould has a 1998 conviction in Missouri for armed robbery. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison. In 2006, he was convicted with attempting to bring a controlled substance into a correctional facility. He was sentenced to four years in prison on that charge.

Gould is currently being held on $250,000 bail in St. Clair County Jail.
