A 16-year-old male was shot at the GreyStone Apartments in Cahokia Heights Saturday night.

The boy was taken to a St. Louis Hospital for medical attention. His condition was not immediately available.

Cahokia Heights Detective Michael A. Baxton said police received a call at 8:58 p.m. and officers were dispatched to the apartments in the 300 block of GreyStone Drive.

When the officers reached the shooting scene, a woman alerted them that a male was shot, Baxton said.

Police have not identified a suspect or determine what the motive was for the shooting, Baxton said.

Any with any information about the shooting is asked to call Baxton at the Cahokia Police Department at 618-337-1184.

The incident marks one of two shootings involving 16-year-old boys in the metro-east over the weekend. Another boy was shot on Second Street near a Belleville skateboard park on Saturday. Police said they believe the shooting resulted from a dispute over narcotics.
