A Belleville teenager was charged Friday in connection with shots being fired from a car following a “large fight” earlier this month, police said.

Dominick W. Eads, 19, faces four felony charges:

  • Armed violence
  • Reckless discharge of a firearm
  • Unlawful possession of a weapon
  • Mob action

The shots were fired near the intersection of South 53rd and West Main streets on the afternoon of Dec. 13.

“An argument between two females escalated into a fight involving several individuals, during which firearms were discharged,” the Belleville Police Department said in a statement after the fight. “The incident involved multiple individuals and vehicles, with reported shots being discharged from a black sedan.”

Police later located a suspect vehicle and then captured three people who fled the vehicle on foot.

A handgun was recovered during the foot pursuit.

No one was seriously injured during the incident.

“The Belleville Police are still actively investigating the incident,” the police said in a statement Friday. “Detectives are working closely with the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office to pursue additional charges on additional suspects.”

Eads was being held in the St. Clair County Jail on Friday, police said.

A court hearing has not yet been set for him.

Anyone with information or video evidence related to this incident is urged to contact the Belleville Police Department at 618-234-1212 or CrimeStoppers at 1-866-371-TIPS (8477).
