Coroner IDs victim in Dupo shooting being investigated by Major Case Squad
The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis was activated Monday after a Dupo man was fatally shot and another was injured in a shooting Monday in Dupo.
Cody L. Rhodes, 37, died after suffering a gunshot wound, St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr. said.
Rhodes was pronounced deceased at 12:02 p.m. at Touchette Regional Hospital in Cahokia Heights by an emergency room physician, Dye said.
His last known address was 111 N. Second St., which is where the shooting occurred, the coroner said.
The other shooting victim was taken to an area hospital but this person’s condition was not released by investigators.
Two people were shot about 11:30 a.m. Monday in the 100 block of North Second Street, according to Dupo Police Chief Dennis Plew.
Other details about the shooting have not been released.
Plew requested the Major Case Squad handle the investigation into the shooting.
The Major Case Squad said in a news release area schools were on lockdown Monday as a “safety precaution.”
The Major Case Squad, which is convening at the Sauget Police Department, asked members of the public to call CrimeStoppers at 866-371-8477 (TIPS) if they have any information about this double shooting.
